International Mail

I love getting mail especially when it comes from Japan. I am a huge fan of japanese cabochon in any style. I love creating with them and try to use them in so many things. My all time favorite are these cabs that I make into barrette clips. Back in March I was able to find a dozen in a coral color and sold them all within a short period of time but when I tried to purchase more they didn't have them until now.
These are the ones I previously sold so I bought enough I hope this time to last me a bit. I was only able to purchase them in peach and white so they will be available by the end of this week.
Rosey Posey Barrette Clips.
Accidently, I stumlbed upon One Good Bumble Bee and found all sorts of fun stuff. I had to buy these metal bird pins, I am still unsure what to make with them but they were so unique. I really liked the bookplates too.

Vintage Fun

Just wanted to share a few of my cool little vintage finds.
Such an adorable pair of kokeshi dolls only measuring 2 inches high plus I just got these cool vintage postcards by Kiichi Tsutaya. The faces are so adorable.
I have been looking for a kitschy cuckoo clock at an afforadable price and found this one on ebay for $5.00 and it works too.
and last, I have this latexture doll form from the 1940's with uncut doll patterns by simplicity.
It is like the coolest thing I own so far.
I love the little dress pattern. I have traced it and will make a little dress soon.

That is it for now, pretty much a mellow sunday afternoon on a hot day.

Back to my Skulls

It's been awhile since I have created my little mexican sugar skull beads, so I think it's time again. I will be done with my orders this week and would like to start adding some of my mexican inspired crafts. I think I will only make a handful of the skulls since they are a little time consuming and I get bored of doing them for long periods of time.
These hairpins are my favorite so I will make some like this and maybe even make barrettes of them too.
I have also started cutting the fabric for my skulls bags and even made tiny little beads for zipper pulls. I also will include my girly skull vinyl coin pouches and Viva La Frida earrings will soon be available too.

I have moved away from my mexican crafts not intentionally and not because they did not sell actually they sold very well but for some reason I stopped making them. Look for them in the coming weeks.
Here are a few of my favorite mexican shops:
Mexican Imports - Very cool rustic home decor
La Fuente Imports - A ton of mexican inspired decor
Gringos & Co. - Kitschy Mexican Jewelry (love the market bags they carry)
SilverCrow Creations - specializing in eclectic art supplies
Galeria Mexicana - They have the most beautiful tin mirrors
Lama - Modern Latin America accessories and home decor
Casa Bonampak - This is the place to shop for papel picado (paper cutouts)
Mis Cositas - Mexican inspired fabrics and handbags
Mexican Sugar Skulls - they have a large selection of skull molds
Mexican Folk Art - Nichos, Retablos
Mi Fiesta - Selection of mexican candy, cookware
Casa Corazon - Mesh Bags
My Mercado Mexican Imports - clothes, bags, etc

Back to normal

It has been a very overwhelming past week. I was so busy trying to get large orders out plus my laptop went out on me and I ended buying a new tower, so I was behind on getting orders out and Thank God all my customers so far have been very patient and understanding. I have 1 wholesale order to do this week and I should be okay. I am still trying to get my orders from this weekend done, I should be done by tomorrow. This past weekend I decided to organize my plastic flowers. It took me awhile to do and I still have another 1/2 bag to get into sections. I can't believe how many flowers I have and I can't stop from buying more. Love the vibrant colors. I have about 4 boxes that I organized and need to buy another 4 more.
Here is a little glimpse of the brooches and flower hairpins I have put together for the large order I am working on.
MySome plastic flower combinations for hairclips.

And I want this instant polaroid camera from Urban Outfitters and this Holga 35mm camera too. The fun I would have with them. Soon I hope.

Busy Week

I just love this little Aqua camera with the metal film canisters, I just had to share.
The past couple of weeks, it was a little slow in my shop, I guess due to vacations and holidays, but in 1 day I received 3 large orders plus a wholesale request which is a good thing. During the month of June I made quiet enough items to keep relisting in order to spend more time with the boys, well I guess it's time to get my butt in gear and start working on more new items so here is a little preview that will be listed soon.
Oh and I am planning a coin purse giveaway tomorrow, so check back for entry information.

Sewing

Look at this cute fabric I just bought at Joann's. I really like all that cute Japanese fabric but this is so different and it is so much cheaper too. It's made out of corduroy and they have so many designs now. They even have pink and mint green Polk a dots on a brown background. I am waiting for my coupons to get some more.Well I made these little coin purses which I will be listing soon in my shop.

I have the itch to sew again just like my embroidery which is coming along, I will show pix's soon and anyways sewing for me is a little frustrating because I don't have the patience, I made a wrap around skirt and took me almost all day to complete but at least I finished it. I am not too happy with it because I used the stretchy kind of jean material and it kind of looks funny where I tie it, I should of used cotton fabric but at least I am getting some practice and next time it might not take me 6 hours to finish. I just found this easy 5-minute skirt tutorial so I will make one and see how it looks.
Oh! and this nice lady from Pretty Little Things just emailed me that she mentioned my tropical hibiscus hairclip in her blog. Her pix's are amazing plus I love her studio. She makes very beautiful and unique dolls and is so crafty.

Strawberry Sachet

I made this cute little strawberry pincushion and filled them with soy beads in a strawberry scent. I made a basket full of them and they make the whole room smell so sweet but it's a little overpowering, I can't handle strong smells too much but 1 or 2 will be okay. I really made them to put inside my sock and undie drawer but they just looked so cute all together. Now I have to make some more for my family. My mom asked for 2 tied together and put them in her car.
I got the pattern from here and the beads from here. These are my next project .

Pretty In Pink

Lately I have been working on a lot of Little Bun In The Oven Favors. I love making them and this is my favorite so far. A customer asked if I could make them in pink with brown ribbon and I found the perfect color at this cute little pink shop that just opened. She has an Etsy shop too. I also purchased the cute little styrofoam dress form which is too cute.
Pretty much this weekend has been pretty quiet. I took the boys swimming at my aunt's house and afterwards went to see the firework show at the nearby high school. Pretty much it's been a very nice and relaxing beginning of July which I am enjoying. Tomorrow I will take Dave back to the Farms with his little class. He has been making so much improvement these last couple of weeks. His sign language is coming along but he is showing signs of some conversation. Thank God.
I bought these cute containers at Michaels over the weekend for only $1. I just love the
pinky-ness in these dresses.

I am pretty much taking random photos of cute little items that I love, like my pink embroidery scissors and I adore the little birds.

Pillow Talk

I have a tropical quilt and wanted to find throw pillows for it but due to the loud pattern it was so hard to find any so I made my own. I love palm trees and when I went to Hawaii a few years ago I took a ton of pix's on my favorite tree. Anyways, I found 2 prints that I converted to b/w and printed them on inkjet transfer paper and bought some nice natural eco fabric and backed it with some upholstery fabric with prints of cute little palm trees that matched my quilt. I added a light blue trim and that's it. So simple and it took me less than 1 hour to complete.
The pillows are now on my son's bed since they matched his new bedspread perfect.

Strawberry Farm

I finally understand how Photoshop Actions work and am having fun with them. I found a few sites that have free photoshop actions to play around with like atncentral.com and this other site, I found a great site too and now I can't find it with tons of free actions from people who want to share.
I am still learning but I finally got it after all this time. I still have a long way to go. I've had Photoshop for the past 7+ plus years and I am now getting it. Duh! I know the basics when it comes to altering or enhancing a picture but when it comes the rest of the cool that can be done I am lost. Well, here are a few samples... Actually the sunflowers have no actions or enhancements, it came out naturally beautiful.
On the picture above and below I used an enhancing skin color action.
On this one I used a cinematic action.

We went Strawberry picking at the nearby farms and David couldn't resist eating them right there. They have beautiful Sunflowers and tons of farm animals. It was a very beautiful to enjoy the Family Farms.

Family Heirloom

This was embroidered by my Great-Grandmother. The last time my grandma went back to her country of Guatemala her sister gave it to her because supposedly she said she was going to die soon, so she wanted her to have it. The good thing is my great aunt is still alive and healthy. She had a minor stroke at the time so she tought it was her time.
Anyways I am glad she gave this to her because it is the most beautiful thing I have ever owned. It has it's wear and tear but it is so simple that I just love it and the most important thing is that it's a part of my grandma. We think it's about 70+ plus years old and it's made out of a flour sack. She said in those times they recycled everything and sugar came in un-bleached sacks. So she took it apart and added a trim to the edge which was hand sewn. The flowers were all done without a pattern all around the edge of the cloth. It's a pretty huge piece, my grandma said she used it to keep the bread or hand made tortillas warm.
I wish their was a way to fix some of the holes and stains it has but it's all part of the use this little piece of cloth has, I just can't get over the idea that I own it now and will treasure it forever.
