Snowy Weekend

It was the official start of winter for us. Ever since we have moved we have seen it change from summer to fall and loved every moment but this is beyond us. Since living in California all our lives, I have enjoyed the same weather practically year round without any drastic changes, occasionally it gets cold but we mostly use sweaters instead of coats and snow boots unless we drive to the mountains which is about 1 1/2 hours away. Snow falling was a big deal for us. Their was so much excitement in our little abode watching the snow while sipping on hot cocoa and not the instant kind either:) I finally bought all the ingredients and made it from scratch, god how easy peasy, I just don't understand why I took so long to buy the ingredients. Anways, the boys practically froze outside because they could not contain themselves from playing in the wet, slushy snow and since we are californians and do not have the appropriate clothing because I haven't really had a chance to buy them winter outfits, they pretty much were freezing but they didn't care.
The following morning the boys got up as soon as the sun was up and headed out the door. Even Dodger couldn't contain his joy for the cold stuff.

It was a perfect December weekend.
I know I will be hating this weather in February but for now we are happy.

Addicted to Glitter

It has been a couple of cold, grey days and today has been a little downer with rain all day. The last couple of nights I have not slept and it has actually caught up with me because I feel literally sick. Anyways, I tried to take a nap but the little man had too much energy so we brought out all my new glitters and tinsels I just bought and started glittering everything we had on hand and watched the movie Up, I still get that knot in my throat everytime I see it. The sweetest I have ever seen.

I am addicted to this stuff. I hated glitter but once I started I can't stop. Especially when the Martha Stewart line is on sale at Michael's. The best products ever in my opinion. I had to make a second trip once again in the same week.
Shame on me.

Here is just a little of what I have been doing but the lighting is so horrible that I can't show you everything. I cannot wait to finish these little houses. I just have so many ideas in my head that I am dreaming them with the little bit of sleep I get.
I had two glasses of red wine for dinner and I hope it relaxes me enough to get a good night sleep. We will see.

Christmas Packaging

Since Christmas is fast approaching, I have been working on packaging and little tag and labels to include as little freebies. Here is a sample of what they look like and I really love the paper I am using, it really matches the boxes I recently bought. I will be starting Christmas packaging on the 15th of this month. If you buy anything before that date and wish to have it packaged specifically for this occasion, please let me know.

Flocking Powder

can it get any better than this? well in my case, I don't think so. I have been dying for flocking powder, like forever and when I just heard this week on a few blogs about it, I had to run to Michael's and the excitement of seeing all the wonderful colors was too overwhelming:) Of course I couldn't afford every color so I bought my 2 favorite colors, robin's egg blue and peony pink. I even love the names. So as I was going home I gave myself a headache thinking of what to flock and I drew a blank because I can't remember why I asked for flocking powder in the first place but as I keep staring at the little containers I kind of have an idea now, I just need to get some spray glue and see if it works.
Will keep you posted on my creations soon.

The Leaves
The leaves are falling from the trees
Yellow, brown and red.
They patter softly like the rain
One landed on my head.

Rainy Wednesday

Nothing much going on in my little world these last couple of days. It's been raining for about 2 days, I really don't mind but with it being so cold and dark it has kept me from finishing up a wholesale order I have pending or doing my laundry or finish painting the rest of my living room or even making dinner. My list is amazingly long but I am in no mood to do anything. I do feel guilty but sometimes their are days just like today I suppose. Hopefully I will wake up with a better attitude tomorrow and start my daily walks again. I see the sun shining through the clouds illuminating the trees and they are so amazingly vibrant, I do love living on the east coast but how I miss California.

Beautiful Autumn Weekend

This past Sunday, I woke up to a beautiful morning, still enjoying my flowers through my front window. It rained pretty much all of Saturday and since their was nothing to do we went to see The Vampire's Assistant which I really liked. I couldn't believe how crowded the theatre was but I guess it was due to the rain.
Sunday morning I wanted to take a drive and see all the beautiful fall colors so we headed towards DC. We went to the National Harbor . It's pretty much still under construction so it's a little empty, mostly the restaurants are open and I believe they will open a Disney resort in the future.
Along the harbor you can walk around the Potomac and I pretty much tired they boys out with the mile walk and then they started complaining that they were hungry.

They have a sculpture in the sand of some kind of mythological god. I thought it was a little interesting.

After our walk we went to Rosa Mexicano restaurant. Wow, was the food amazing, a little pricey but it was so good.

I just loved they guacamole which they make right in front of your table. Yum!!

this was our ride home which was so calm and relaxing that I just wanted to fall asleep on the way back. Actually I did take a nap once I got home. Such a perfect weekend!

Craft Store Budget

A few days I went to Michaels with the very best intentions of not spending more than $20.00. I was a little bored and it had been a long time since I went to one. Well, my budget did not work and I could not resist in buying way past my limited budget. I figure I spend more money on supplies than I do on clothes. Is that weird or normal for crafters? I buy stuff and tell myself I will use it, create with it and it ends up on my shelf or in my unfinished piles of never ending crafts. Typical for me. Well I had to post this adorable set of sewing pins that I found in the scrapbook section. They were too cute and it tempted me so much that I needed to have them for my little collection of pins.
I believe I saw some with flowers on them around summer but the little bats one me over.
They also have a Christmas set that looks very festive.

Had to get a creepy little skeleton candle too.

and did a little glittering which I am not fond of but love the finish product once it was done. Overall I did use 1/2 of supplies that I bought but I will be staying away from any craft store for awhile, I hope.

We have been exploring neighboring towns and came across this cool little ghost town of a city called Cumberland. It used to be a coal miner type of town and you can still feel the presence of the that time period when you look around. They haven't changed much which makes it even more special as they are really preserving the past.
This town had some many churches in such a small section that it was just too cool not totake a picture of every single one.

The town sits on rolling hills and you can see all the different church tops. For some reason I thought I took a panorama picture but cannot locate it. The boys are bugging me to take them back so they can go on the train which takes you through the scenic mountains. The conductor dresses and looks like he is still back in the 1800's.

I just loved all the Victorian style homes. They just looked so Gothic and dark.

The buildings are just amazing and this poor building in the bottom photo will be coming down pretty soon.

In the middle of the town is a little section where their is a diner, some really cool vintage stores, bakeries and candy stores. Unfortunately we went on a Sunday and most were closed.

I can't wait to go again and see more of this quaint little town. I hear it's really full of tourists and activities during the summer as most towns in this area are dead do the winter that is coming soon.

Art Fair

About 2 weeks ago I was able to attend Crafty Bastards art and craft fair. It was such a beautiful day and I got to see some amazing artists. I did manage to buy myself a cool recycled Alice in Wonderland sketchbook and a vintage typewriter key necklace and some art prints from this nice couple.
I really enjoyed spending the day in the city and get a little familiar with my new environmentVegan Red Velvet Cupcake. YUM!!

My little ones fooling around.

Their were some sections that was crazy full of people.

Little D enjoying the most amazing italian ice ever.

Greenhouse II

It has rained for about 3 days straight and it is such a beautiful time to put some of the candles all throughout the house for warmth and comfort. I don't think I can get tired of looking out the window and hearing the rain hit the porch. But I still can't get my mind of my dream greenhouse. I keep thinking of what a mystical place I would create full of nature and science and with my quest for this ideal place I came across Anthropologie and the home decor section. I need these, well not really need but want. These items really make me want a greenhouse more than anything.
Magnifying Glasses

I just love these apothecary jars.

And these beakers. What I would do to have them all.

Never seen this before but this penny jar is pretty neat.

Such a beautiful birdcage.

Lighting bulbs. Too cool. They also carry cute little bell jars that are so adorable. Keep dreaming.... sigh.............

Lovely candleholder.

and these markers, genuine.

This little mechanical lady raven would keep my little seedlings company.

I just ran across this picture on Lucky.

I can just imagine my little sanctuary with all these wonderful finds and I saw this blog post and must say they will be ideal in my greenhouse. I will continue to dream and hopefully one day I will and must create this magical place.
Have a wonderful Saturday afternoon, I will be enjoying the rest of this rainy Saturday and hopefully catch some good scary movies on TV, which I doubt.
