The Getty

This Saturday we took a school trip to The Getty Museum. Big J's school funded a family trip including transportation which was too cool. I just love going to the museum but I think it was a bit much for the little kids as they don't appreciate what they are looking at and this museum is soooooooo strict which is understandable. Anyways, I still enjoyed the trip. This was my second time going and last time I was lucky enough to see Dorothea Lange's About Life exhibit.
But this is what I was waiting to see again. It is the most amazing piece of art I have ever seen. Back in Baltimore a few years ago I was lucky enough to see an exhibit on impressionism and they housed the most famous paintings by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Cezanne and just to see it in front of you and not in print is mind blowing. I got the same experience when I saw all of Frida Kahlo's paintings at The LACMA back in high school. What a privilege.

My mom made me take a picture of the "Yawning Man" and the frowning/crying sculpture. I wonder if they are the same person because they look like each other.

Outside the day was gloomy but the gardens were beautiful.

The rooms are just breath taking.

My 3 little devils that I couldn't control.

The trip was way too short because we were picked up by 9:15am and returned by 2:30pm so it didn't really give us much time to really appreciate everything and right now they have a beautiful exhibit called Captured Emotion that we almost ran through because it was time to leave so mom and I swore we would return without kids. Soon I hope.

2nd Shop

I've decided to open a second shop called Dulcina's to showcase all my jewelry supplies and add my overload of beads and vintage baubles that I have. I will be adding a ton of destash items over the coming weeks and will increase more jewelry findings. For over a year I have contemplated this move but never had a chance. At the same time I wanted to introduce more jewelry findings to my current shop but didn't want to overload it with too much. I hope this works.

Carnival F-U-N

Another cheesy carnival, aren't they all.

Spent tons of money on crappy stuffed animals.
I needed some wine after my boys were driving crazy.

Had tons of junk of course.

But it was worth it seeing their faces full of sugar. Too Sweet.

Sleep Deprived

I was so thrilled to see the front page of Etsy and the funny things is my little Petunia brooch was on 2 other treasuries at the same time. What a coincidence.

These last couple of nights I have had severe insomnia for what reasons, I don't know. I just can't stand it and now my head is throbbing so I am like a walking zombie with dark circles under my eyes. Hopefully sleep will catch up with me or something because I can no longer take the restless nights. At least if I was able to be productive during these terrible spells but No, my eyes hurt too much and I ruin everything I try to work on so I just sit in front of the computer with nothing to look at but just browse. So I am not as productive as would like to be during the day. Such a shame as I have so many things to do.

Today after Davey's therapy session he wanted to go in the car, he just wants to hit the road so I really didn't feel like going anywhere special and decided to go to the Dollar Tree. I just love places like that especially this particular store which has pretty cute items. I bought these adorable little plastic peeps that light up and they had a ton of Ranunculus and other bulbs so I bought a few to plant. So I am off to lay on the couch as my eyes are burning staring at the screen.

Loving My Little Shrine

I took some time and since I have the itch to craft I made myself some wall art. I have so much scrapbooking paper that I don't even use and some of it is so beautiful that I would love to hang and this was the case with this particular paper. It's from Sassafras and it is so beautiful. I bought these trays in the dollar bin at Target and I couldn't believe the price. They have a rustic look and from the beginning I wanted to turn them into some kind of frame. I just love artist that do altered work but I really haven't done much in that area, so I tried my hand at it and brought out all all little bits and baubles and Voila!! I made instead cheesy art in under 10 minutes. I might add a few more items but I dont want to overdue it either. I made another one from the other half of paper that I cut out which is looking mighty cute in my opinion. The little bird in the corner are wooden cutouts that I bought from The Porkshop Show, they have the coolest supplies. So off to finish one large order and to start another one.

Forgive my awful picture but I brought out my pencil and paper to draw again and had to share these drawings I made. When Big J was still a baby I went to Santa Monica and noticed an older man selling handmade pencil drawing of your child. I really wanted a portrait of Jake but was too cheap to pay for it and I didn't think he could sit for 30 or so minutes while the man drew him. Anyways I made 2 of them one when he was 6 months old and the other when he was 11 months old. I never did one of Davey so I am going to have to get some pictures out of him at around the same age and draw from that. I am feeling a surge for picking up the pencil again as that is my favorite medium. I also do like using my technical pens on occasion. So this week my goal is to create 2 drawings and hang them next to his older brother.
I've already accomplished one craft which is Davey's silhouette and now I need a frame which is getting very hard because I am being really picky about what I want but can't find it. So until I find the frame I wont share my latest accomplishment, I call them accomplishments because I really can't work on projects as often as I would like.

This is only 1/4 of my order that is done. I just had a thought of how fun it would be to own my a boutique which has been a dream ever since I can remember. but in the meantime my little creations are appreciated in different boutiques throughout the country which I am so grateful.

Time for an Etsy break

After almost 2 years of selling on Etsy I have taken a mini vacation, well sort of. I closed shop for a few days due to some wholesale orders that I haven't even gotten a chance to work on and new items that I plan on selling. I've decided to have a sale on March 17th in honor of my second anniversary and will be having a 20% off Sale. So I want to make as much as I can in the hair accessory section, I have been lacking in that area quiet a bit.
I am still so bad about this whole blogging thing, I really want to write in it more often like I was in the beginning so I will still keep trying. I will share more on my craft room and how slowly it's coming around. It so annoying how it still looks like a disaster area. I was supposed to get it painted by now but the ceiling is still not done, at least my computer and printer are set up. And talking about my printer it's been a horrible ordeal with my officejet these last 2 weeks. I thought I needed to buy a new one because it was not printing properly, I only bought the thing about 1 year ago without a service plan. I don't know what I was thinking because ever since little Davey has been walking around pushing and destroying anything electronic like my dad's digital camera, service plans are a must. Well I ended buying one and my stomach just flipped (not if a good way) at how cheap the same printer was from the time I about it. So anyway, I was still trying too see if I can salvage my old printer but everyone kept telling me it wasn't worth it. So I changed the printheads (which the geek guys told me was not the problem)and problem SOLVED!!!!!!!!! Yeah! I was dancing and jumping like you wouldn't believe but then when I bought these printhead cartridges (the printer has 2 on top of the 4 inks cartridges) each one was $71.99 so that equals to $150 with taxes and the new printer was the same price, so in the end I did not save but actually it cost me more because I also had to buy the set of inks too. These economical officejets are as pricey as a laserjet which I also have and do not used in awhile because the inks are too pricey. So overall this whole printer experienced has been a downer on my check book. It really is cheaper to buy new electronics instead of trying to get them fixed.
