Rainy Wednesday

Nothing much going on in my little world these last couple of days. It's been raining for about 2 days, I really don't mind but with it being so cold and dark it has kept me from finishing up a wholesale order I have pending or doing my laundry or finish painting the rest of my living room or even making dinner. My list is amazingly long but I am in no mood to do anything. I do feel guilty but sometimes their are days just like today I suppose. Hopefully I will wake up with a better attitude tomorrow and start my daily walks again. I see the sun shining through the clouds illuminating the trees and they are so amazingly vibrant, I do love living on the east coast but how I miss California.

Beautiful Autumn Weekend

This past Sunday, I woke up to a beautiful morning, still enjoying my flowers through my front window. It rained pretty much all of Saturday and since their was nothing to do we went to see The Vampire's Assistant which I really liked. I couldn't believe how crowded the theatre was but I guess it was due to the rain.
Sunday morning I wanted to take a drive and see all the beautiful fall colors so we headed towards DC. We went to the National Harbor . It's pretty much still under construction so it's a little empty, mostly the restaurants are open and I believe they will open a Disney resort in the future.
Along the harbor you can walk around the Potomac and I pretty much tired they boys out with the mile walk and then they started complaining that they were hungry.

They have a sculpture in the sand of some kind of mythological god. I thought it was a little interesting.

After our walk we went to Rosa Mexicano restaurant. Wow, was the food amazing, a little pricey but it was so good.

I just loved they guacamole which they make right in front of your table. Yum!!

this was our ride home which was so calm and relaxing that I just wanted to fall asleep on the way back. Actually I did take a nap once I got home. Such a perfect weekend!

Craft Store Budget

A few days I went to Michaels with the very best intentions of not spending more than $20.00. I was a little bored and it had been a long time since I went to one. Well, my budget did not work and I could not resist in buying way past my limited budget. I figure I spend more money on supplies than I do on clothes. Is that weird or normal for crafters? I buy stuff and tell myself I will use it, create with it and it ends up on my shelf or in my unfinished piles of never ending crafts. Typical for me. Well I had to post this adorable set of sewing pins that I found in the scrapbook section. They were too cute and it tempted me so much that I needed to have them for my little collection of pins.
I believe I saw some with flowers on them around summer but the little bats one me over.
They also have a Christmas set that looks very festive.

Had to get a creepy little skeleton candle too.

and did a little glittering which I am not fond of but love the finish product once it was done. Overall I did use 1/2 of supplies that I bought but I will be staying away from any craft store for awhile, I hope.

We have been exploring neighboring towns and came across this cool little ghost town of a city called Cumberland. It used to be a coal miner type of town and you can still feel the presence of the that time period when you look around. They haven't changed much which makes it even more special as they are really preserving the past.
This town had some many churches in such a small section that it was just too cool not totake a picture of every single one.

The town sits on rolling hills and you can see all the different church tops. For some reason I thought I took a panorama picture but cannot locate it. The boys are bugging me to take them back so they can go on the train which takes you through the scenic mountains. The conductor dresses and looks like he is still back in the 1800's.

I just loved all the Victorian style homes. They just looked so Gothic and dark.

The buildings are just amazing and this poor building in the bottom photo will be coming down pretty soon.

In the middle of the town is a little section where their is a diner, some really cool vintage stores, bakeries and candy stores. Unfortunately we went on a Sunday and most were closed.

I can't wait to go again and see more of this quaint little town. I hear it's really full of tourists and activities during the summer as most towns in this area are dead do the winter that is coming soon.

Art Fair

About 2 weeks ago I was able to attend Crafty Bastards art and craft fair. It was such a beautiful day and I got to see some amazing artists. I did manage to buy myself a cool recycled Alice in Wonderland sketchbook and a vintage typewriter key necklace and some art prints from this nice couple.
I really enjoyed spending the day in the city and get a little familiar with my new environmentVegan Red Velvet Cupcake. YUM!!

My little ones fooling around.

Their were some sections that was crazy full of people.

Little D enjoying the most amazing italian ice ever.

Greenhouse II

It has rained for about 3 days straight and it is such a beautiful time to put some of the candles all throughout the house for warmth and comfort. I don't think I can get tired of looking out the window and hearing the rain hit the porch. But I still can't get my mind of my dream greenhouse. I keep thinking of what a mystical place I would create full of nature and science and with my quest for this ideal place I came across Anthropologie and the home decor section. I need these, well not really need but want. These items really make me want a greenhouse more than anything.
Magnifying Glasses

I just love these apothecary jars.

And these beakers. What I would do to have them all.

Never seen this before but this penny jar is pretty neat.

Such a beautiful birdcage.

Lighting bulbs. Too cool. They also carry cute little bell jars that are so adorable. Keep dreaming.... sigh.............

Lovely candleholder.

and these markers, genuine.

This little mechanical lady raven would keep my little seedlings company.

I just ran across this picture on Lucky.

I can just imagine my little sanctuary with all these wonderful finds and I saw this blog post and must say they will be ideal in my greenhouse. I will continue to dream and hopefully one day I will and must create this magical place.
Have a wonderful Saturday afternoon, I will be enjoying the rest of this rainy Saturday and hopefully catch some good scary movies on TV, which I doubt.

A Little Dream.........Greenhouse

As winter is fast approaching and we are enjoying much of the crisp, rainy weather, I am dreading the death of my little flowers that I with much love have grown this summer to add character to the simple little abode that I reside in at the moment. I am cleaning out the back shed and reinstalling new plant and heat lights in order to keep some of them alive during the harsh winter that is almost here. Here is a little picture of the front of my porch and the ones that I really want to move to the back are the Mandevillas since they are more of a tropical climate. This picture was taken last weekend and my little flowers are still holding strong but this weekend the temps will drop to 30 degrees. Bye-Bye my little pretties......That is where my dream comes into play as I have loved the conservatory in the movie Practical Magic. Such a dream house, indeed. I have been searching everywhere for a little greenhouse kit and found one. I really wanted to make one out of old window panes but I know that I probably won't make it and want the easy- peasy greenhouse kits and found a few that I really love through this website . The one below is a little pricey for such a small house and I really need to save all pennies in order to afford one that is a descent size so I will keep dreaming for now. This weekend, if weather permits I will be planting my 6 bags of tulip bulbs through out the entire yard. Fun project.

I Am Finally Back!

Wow, unbelievable that I have been gone from blog land since June. I kept myself a promise to update at least once a week but time does get the best of all of us. I have so many wonderful pictures and stories to share. I have relocated this summer and with moving and the stress that comes with life it has put a downer on me personally which has affected even my little Internet business. But I am feeling a 100% better and enjoying the beautiful fall weather along with all of Nature's gorgeous warm palette. I just LOVE the colors which have inspired me to dust my camera and start snapping all the loveliness that surrounds us during this time.
I took my boys to a beautiful family farm full of mums, animals and of course pumpkins. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon and the mums couldn't be more radiant.

These cuties were brought back from the farm and needed a little photo shoot.
For now I have to clean my crafty room and set up a little light studio as the weather is horrible and I promised a customer a week ago pictures of new bracelets that I haven't shot yet. Very terrible of me, indeed.
