Woke up early this morning and was able to read quiet a bit (James Rollins' Sandstorm-I like murder, mystery, suspense, military involvement conspiracy books) and browse through the Food Gift magazine from Better Homes and Gardens. Makes me want to go straight to the kitchen and bake. I really want to try making fruit preserves and might give it a try hopefully this week, if time permits as always.
Look at all those baked goods. YUM!!!! and the packing is so simple and pretty with items we already have in the cupboards. This magazine was a little pricey for me but it was worth it.
Also made me some green tea. I was craving for some. Found the pattern through Lion Brand. Isn't he cute????
I am off to deal with screaming kids and friends. They seem to want breakfast.
What is it about the cooler weather that brings out our crafting needs into overdrive. Yarns, fabrics, glues, paper, punches, glitter, it all comes out during this time. Is it the shorter days, the chill outside or the holidays. Whatever the reason is I am very motivated at the moment especially with so many lovely blogs and inspirational magazines that have been released lately. I get to use many supplies that have been sitting on my shelf and have an excuse to buy more. I just love this time of coziness and crafty time.
Oops, what can I say. I was thinking about shutting down the blog but I thought I would give it one more try. I have lots to share and have a million pictures to upload but having a blog takes time. I am so loving this beautiful cool weather and sad to see all the beautiful leaves gone. One thing I do love about living on the East coast is able enjoy the seasons change.
It was such an amazing sunset last night and the moon was spectacular.
I have to cut this post a little short for now but will be back soon with an easy peasyDIY-Anthro inspired project. Actually their are 2 of them that I will be making.
I wanted to share my very first completed throw blanket that I finished within 3 weeks and the best part I didn't have to buy more yarn, I just used up all the ones that have been left behind from other projects. The instructions were found here and I just love how pretty it looks once done. I am unsure about the doily because it's a little wonky but I guess it's okay. I can't wait to make more to give to love ones.
I just love my jar full of sweet treats. I found a set of the jars with their rack but a little boy that I know broke 2 of them plus the rack so now I am stuck with this one jar. It looks great displaying all the little cupcake toppers I found this weekend in my junk drawers. Makes me want to bake some cupcakes but will have to pass until it cools a bit.
Sorry for the lacks of entries, for some reason this year has been a downhill slump with no motivation or energy, affecting every aspect of my life and this heat isn't helping much especially since the a/c broke this week. A replacement piece has been ordered and hopefully it will be up and running by the end of this week. fingers crossed. I have been crocheting at night to release my stress and have finished one blanket finally and started another one (pictured above) but I still have 2 more blankets that need to be finished. It really feels good to see a completed project and I can't wait to work on the rest before starting anymore. I thought I was going to use this blog to help me finish my projects and I was doing so well but as always life gets in the way. I need to continue and document my projects once again and hopefully commit this time, so here is my waterlily afghan which will include 42 squares with 6 completed and out of the way and 36 more to go. Timeline is undetermined at the moment but it took me 1 week to finish 6 so I am calculating about 7 weeks. Oh, that is a long time. Wish me luck...
Sorry for my lack in entries but I have been in one of those blah moods. I hope I can get over it soon so I can enjoy the summer and I also need to start making new items for my shop. Anyways I ran across some of my favorite finds that I wanted to share. In my last post I was going to share some picnic finds but I still can't find any to my liking. The search is still on.
Here are two of my favorite diy projects that I came across inspired by anthropologie. The first picture is from Design Sponge and you can find the basket instructions here. On the subject of Anthropologie I saw this shower curtain that I WANT so badly but I cannot justify spending $118. I hope it goes on sale......
Isn't this adorable. I have had this little necklace from shixie in my check out box for awhile and found out it sold:(
I want this moth pillow and this butterfly pillow too. My home decor evolves around butterflies, birds and flowers. I am so obsessed with gardens.
I have spent most days tending to my garden to relieve my built up stress and it has been very relaxing in some ways pulling the tons of weeds that grow overnight. I have so many pictures of my flowers that I keep meaning to post. Soon.
I just ran outside in time to see in amazement at how beautiful the sunset is reflecting on the storm clouds. The first pictures shows the separation of calmness and chaos fast approaching. Since I am still so new to these kind of storms, I am always in awe everytime I see lightning and get so excited as do my kids.
This past weekend we went to Patapsco Valley State Park for the day and had a great time hiking and walking up to the waterfall. It was so nice to be outside even though it was a bit hazy.
The days have been very gloomy which has gotten feeling so blah but the sun finally came out these past two days and this weekend should be perfect for another day at the park, I hope. We are expecting t-storms tonight and hopefully the humidity will go down a bit.
I am so inspired by the great outdoors right now and with that I am on the hunt for picnic accessories but not just any common bland item but some fun and cute accessories with a little vintage thrown in. I am having a hard time locating anything at the moment but have found a few sources and I think I will dedicate my Friday finds to picnics and accessories.
I am hoping we go to Shenandoah National Park as it is such a beautiful place and haven't been their since David was a baby. Fingers crossed.
**the storm is definately here as we hear the thunder very clearly now and clouds are amazing in color**
