Friday Finds

Here are my Friday Finds. I did go thrifting this week and found some really great items but unfortunately the weather has been terrible with winds blowing and snow flying around that my pictures are put on hold for now. Here are some of my favorite Internet diy projects, pictures, purchases and downloads. A real old I Spy print.
So simple but so pretty. source.

Look at the amazing porcelain cup from Mie Kong Studio.

How I miss my sewing machine right now. I really want to make these.

Such an easy way to stencil old plates. How clever and easy. craftzine.

Very cute origami patterns found at That bunny is so adorable.

I love the daily blog columns of Design Sponge and saved this diy project in my favorites. I really want to make grocery bags with this design concept.

Friday Finds

Just received a box full of vintage jewelry ready to be made into something new. I can't wait. Feeling a little more inspired since the sun has been out these last 2 days. Hopefully I can be productive. I received and email about an art and craft festival in May, unsure yet. Little Dave doesn't really give me much room to breathe so it will be hard to make enough items for a festival. We will see.
Here are the cute owls I just found. I love that I was able to find a family of trivets. Thinking about spray painting them and hanging them on the wall. Not sure on the color yet.

I have put my afghan on hold for a bit as I have had a little bit of aching of the hands once again but will start this weekend. I made a phone cozy and camera case which I will photograph soon and made some hairbows too . I really want to make myself a slouchy beret and found a few of patterns online like this one and this one here plus this one too. I have the perfect blue yarn that I want use. So I will intent on making one this weekend.

Winter Blah

Haven't been blogging this past week due to all the snow clean up, lately that is all I am talking about anyways. Finally ventured out on Monday since the streets were cleaned. Big J returned to school on Wednesday, thank goodness. It seems like everything is back to normal. I have a ton of photos from blizzard 2 that I need to work on, you should see the mountains of snow piled everywhere. Those won't be melting any time soon. Another storm coming on Monday with substantial snow.
Went thrifting on Tuesday. Love the little pitchers and those plastic flowers. I found a really neat sewing basket too and some cute owls and brass birdcage that needs some paintings. Will take pictures once the sun comes out.

Blizzard of 2010
That's what they called it plus it was a historic storm too. 36 inches. They said that it's unheard of to have two large storms hit this part of the nation in the same season.
This was the scene Saturday morning. Finally Sunday we had beautiful blue skies with 20 degree weather. The snow was as high as David.

Look at how much snow we got. Pretty Crazy. I've seen enough snow to last a lifetime and more. Oh, and we are expecting 10 more inches Tuesday night. My upper body is so sore from all the shoveling. I can't take anymore:)

Just having fun with some actions.

Little creatures wanted to see the outside too.

I got a lot of crocheting done and have 30 squares done with 33 to go. Yeah.

Friday Finds

It's starting to snow outside and we expect it to be a big storm with up to 31 inches of snow. All schools and federal offices are closing early and it's a traffic mess outside. The post office was crazy busy. I am so glad I got everything out of the way (except I could not find a new snow shovel) and I back at home getting ready to jump into bed and start crocheting. Since I am feeling uninspired to continue my living room makeover due to the weather outside, I have to get out of the slump so I started looking for curtains and found the perfect ones via Urban Outfitters on sale and bought them. They will look perfect with the wall color I chose.
Plus I saw this ceramic camera which I have been eyeing for quiet some time and it too is on sale.
As for my crocheting, I have 20 squares done and I need 40 more to go and have a 2nd blanket I have started awhile ago that I want to finish too but I do want to make this one shown in the picture below.
It seems that crochet is so popular once again. I have been reading so many blogs and articles about granny squares, all I know is that my fingers are a little achy but I still cant' stop making the squares.
I want to make these cute little crochet hearts and here is another site with a great tutorial for making them too. And talking about cute and hearts, here is a free embroidery pattern and found this pattern too plus more free embroidery patterns found here. Very adorable. On top of crocheting the granny squares I made a cute little camera bag and will make a phone bag too. I am hooked:) once again.

It Was Shown

Well sort of....
One of my vintage bracelet was on T.V for a milli-second towards the end of the segment. Here is a little glimpse from Palm Springs Local 2 News
"Valentines Gifts that give back with lifestyle Expert Stacie Krajchir"
I will get notified if it shows on KTLA, or NBC

Spring Where Are You?????

My feet are freezing waiting for you. This is what we woke up to once again. School was cancelled and we had much cleaning to do. Listening to the weather man he said we are only half way through winter. Another snow storm is coming this weekend, dropping about 2 feet of snow. I have already stocked up on food and need to go rent videos and mail packages before Friday morning. Oh, and I need a new snow shovel. I am really disliking the winter here.

I have been working on new things for my little neglected shop while still managing some crocheting for my project. I have 16 squares done and bunch still to do.

Tuesday Morning

So this was pretty much all of Sunday. More snow to clean up and play in. I do love the snow but I do want to go outside without bundling up. Today we are expecting 3-4 inches, which means no school tomorrow and more cleaning of the sidewalk and driveway. Fun....
This is pretty much how we spent our Sunday morning.

I can't get enough of these two.

After the snow clean up, it was nice to go inside and watch movies while continuing my granny throw and drinking lots of tea. I have gotten quiet addicted to the stuff and have avoided caffeine as much as possible.
I managed to get a good stack of squares done and haven't forgotten my most important unfinished project which will resume on Thursday.
Oh! before I forget I do have some exciting news, I was contact by Etsy Admin and they requested one of my bracelets to be sent overnight to LA because it will be shown on KTLA Morning News, NBC San Diego and Palm Springs. I can just scream.
***Hi Adriana, How are the boys??? Yes both cameras have spools with working shutters. Do you have my email address ? Nice to hear from you and I really do miss everyone. ****

Baja Style Fish Tacos

While growing up in California my parent would always take us to Baja California on short weekend trips. I loved going to a little town called Ensenda. We mostly went for the fish tacos at the little stands at the port. They were the amazingly good. Well with all the drug violence I stopped crossing the border and the last time I was their was maybe 8 years ago. Well I really miss authentic mexican food and can't find anything that is really great in this area. I have been craving fish tacos but didn't know how to make the sauce and I after many attempts I came up with my own and I am so excited all I need is the warm salty air hitting my face. Sorry the pictures are horrible.

Baja Style Fish Tacos
Prep Time 20 min
cook time 12 min
Avocado Sauce:
1/2 c. sour cream
1/4 c. milk
4 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp olive oil
1 package of fish batter
chopped onions
Chopped cilantro
1 whole avocado
in a blender mix all ingredients together until you get a smooth puree, chill in fridge
Fish Tacos
2 pds of Halibut or code boneless
1 can of beer
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of garlic salt
1 tsp pepper
2 cups of shredded cabbage

Preheat a fryer or a deep pot with oil.
Open package of batter mix use half the mix and add beer, mix until you get a heavy cream consistency. If it's still too thick add a little bit of water. Set aside.
The rest of the mix add, salt, garlic salt, pepper mix together.
Coat pieces with dry mix and then dip into prepared batter. Deep Fry until golden brown and cooked thorough.
Place fried pieces on warmed corn tortillas, add sauce, shredded cabbage and a squeeze of lime and enjoy.
